Tampa is a shimmery beach-rock quartet from the East Coast of Canada. With tight, driving rhythms and impeccable pop hooks, it’s not the music you’d expect from a small Acadian village (Moncton and Memramcook, NB), but Tampa’s unequivocal pride of place is a refreshing take on rural life.
Nic’s fervent vocals are supported by the region’s best players – Katrine Noel (Les Hay Babies, Thomé Young), Marc-Andre Belliveau (Les Hay Babies, Menoncle Jason, Pierre Guitard, Kevin McIntyre), Mathieu LeBlanc (Menoncle Jason, Pierre Guitard, Kevin McIntyre). Their proficiency allows the project to take on an unparalleled dynamism – sultry love songs, brash rock n’ rollers, and experimental synth quirks.
Tampa’s debut album Belated Love has just been released in March 2018, a snapshot of their high-energy live performances, set to tape as a tongue-in-cheek approach to perfect popyear and anglophone recording of the year. They have successfully headlined several East Coast Tours. In the Summer of 2015, they were invited to perform twice daily at the Festival Interceltique de L’orient, in L’orient, France. A yearly festival hosting a million or more patrons during it’s two week run. They are committed to continuously pushing the limits of this creative collaboration, in order to produce authentic music, that is simple to take in, although skillfully layered with diverse and opposing influences.
